RICHARDS SATISFIED WITH ‘WORKMANLIKE’ DISPLAY
The Falcons take home a nine point advantage for this Wednesday’s return clash at Kingston Park as they aim for an immediate return back to the big time.
“We said that we would come up here and put in a workmanlike performance, and that is exactly what we did,” said Richards.
“I am a little bit disappointed that we didn’t finish off the opportunities that arose, but I am reasonably happy that we have the nine point advantage,” added Richards, who saw his team break Bedford’s line with a number of attacks.
Six penalties from Jimmy Gopperth secured the win with Richards insisting that the job is only half done at 18-9.
He said: “The nine point advantage means nothing at all, and we will go into Wednesday’s game with the same attitude as the first leg.
“It is all about being one point ahead of Bedford at the end of the tie, and that is what it is all about. The players know what is at stake, and we will be well prepared for next week.”
