Run the Great North Run for Newcastle Rugby Foundation

Tuesday 28 June 2022 Written by: Adam

The iconic Great North Run half-marathon from Newcastle to South Shields takes place Sunday, September 11, 2022, with Newcastle Rugby Foundation aiming to raise valuable funds.

The foundation aims to motivate, educate, and inspire using the power of sport, with interested runners asked to email **jessica.eaton@newcastle-falcons.co.uk** with a brief explanation of why you would like to run for Newcastle Rugby Foundation. We ask for a minimum £200 sponsorship per entry. The deadline to apply for your place is today, **Friday 24th June**.

We would like to thank and wish good luck to all our current charity place runners, who have begun their training for the event.

Peter Ramsey, one of our current charity place runners, is excited to challenge himself and run for the foundation:

“Rugby has always been a huge part of my life. From playing to coaching. The team at Newcastle have been part of that, helping me along the way with my coaching, and allowing me to help with summer camps over years has given me so much experience working with a wide range of coaches.

“The foundation does so much for the local rugby community, and my club – Hartlepool RFC, have accessed so much that the foundation has to offer, from match day experiences, festivals, and camps held at the club. For me, running the GNR and fundraising as much as I can is a way of saying thank you to the Foundation team, but also knowing that funds raised will go back into the rugby community with young players, right across our area accessing rugby, having fun and making positive memories.

“On a personal note, having recently come back from a serious back injury, I know that without the support of my rugby friends, I would not have stayed as positive as I did without their support. This again is the power of rugby, you make friends for life, helping each other on the pitch and off it.”
