Saracens set for bumper first game crowd

Newcastle Falcons are set to welcome their biggest crowd to the first home game of a season in 14 years this Sunday when the Gallagher Premiership Rugby season kicks off with the visit of reigning champions Saracens (KO 3pm)

Over 5,000 tickets have been sold for the start of the new campaign which comes off the back of the club’s most successful season in over 20 years, having qualified for the end of season play-offs by virtue of a fourth-place finish in the Premiership standings and featured in the semi-finals of both the European Rugby Challenge Cup and the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

Sales are expected to accelerate as the week progresses and as a result, the match is expected to eclipse all but the club’s highest ever crowd for a first home game, a record which came in season 2004/05 when 8,706 fans poured through the turnstiles to witness a 22-21 win over Harlequins.

Sunday’s visit of Saracens will, however, set a new benchmark for the biggest ever Kingston Park crowd for a game on the opening weekend of a Premiership Rugby season, with that Harlequins game having fallen in round three following on from handsome away wins over Worcester and Bath.

With fewer than 300 tickets left for Kingston Park’s West Stand supporters wishing to watch the game from a seat are urged to book their tickets without delay or risk missing out, while terrace spaces are anticipated to be available right until match-day.

Tickets can be booked now by **[clicking here][1]**, calling 0871 2266060 or by visiting the Kingston Park Stadium box office, with advanced prices valid until 23:59 on Saturday, September 1 after which time full match-day prices will be in operation.
