Scotland call-up for Chris Harris
The Carlisle-born 26-year-old qualifies for Scotland through his grandmother, earning a maiden international call-up after impressing in his 58 competitive appearances for the Falcons.
He forms part of a 36-man squad which convenes next week ahead of tests against Samoa (Nov 11), New Zealand (Nov 18) and Australia (Nov 25).
Scotland Head Coach Gregor Townsend, said: “The players selected have worked exceptionally hard at their clubs to earn inclusion in the national squad and we’re looking forward to working with them throughout the autumn series.
“They will need to intensify their efforts further still to earn the opportunity and honour of play in front of capacity crowds in what are three exciting fixtures.
“We’re facing two of the world’s top three sides after a significant challenge from Samoa in our opening game. It will be an excellent challenge for our players.”
Other Newcastle players selected for international duty this autumn are Sonatane Takulua (Tonga), Vereniki Goneva and Tevita Cavubati (Fiji), DTH van der Merwe, Jake Ilnicki and Evan Olmstead (Canada) and Nick Civetta (USA).
The Falcons have enjoyed a flying start to the season which sees them top of their European Challenge Cup group and fourth in the Aviva Premiership ahead of Sunday’s visit of Leicester Tigers.
