SEE THE WOMEN’S WORLD CUP AT KINGSTON PARK TODAY
This summer Women’s Rugby took centre stage as England triumphed 21-9 over Canada in a thrilling final match to lift the World Cup trophy.
World Cup winning Captain Katy MacLean, a former player with one of our Club Connections sides Westoe RFC, was one of a number of players in the squad currently plying their trade in the North East for Darlington Mowden Park Sharks, a great testament to the great work that is going on within women’s rugby in the region.
As a mark of that hard work we’re proud to be able to welcome the Women’s Rugby World Cup trophy here to Kingston Park today, where it will be on parade alongside 20 girls from the friendly festival that was played earlier on this morning.
Newcastle Falcons Community Director Melanie Magee said: “The fact that so many of the World Cup winning team play their club rugby in the North East shows just how strong the women’s game is in this region.
“It’s great that the participants from this morning’s community activities have the opportunity to carry the World Cup trophy today and we hope it gives them just a small taste of what the women’s team experienced in France and that it will inspire them on within their own future rugby careers.”
Tickets are still available for Newcastle Falcons’ game against Exeter Chiefs, which kicks off at Kingston Park at 3pm today. They can be purchased from the Club’s Ticket Office right up until kick off or can be purchased [online][1] using our print at home option.
