Semore Kurdi elected interim Premiership Rugby Chairman
Semore Kurdi, Chairman of Newcastle Falcons, has been elected by the Premiership Rugby Board as Chairman on an interim basis from 30 June.
This follows the announcement on 18 May that current Chairman, Quentin Smith, was concluding his role after six very successful years.
“We’re underway with the process of identifying a new, independent Chairman and I’m very happy to assist the Board during the intervening period through the start of the 2016-17 Season”, said Semore Kurdi.
“A month ago, we concluded another very successful season for Premiership Rugby culminating in an outstanding Aviva Premiership Final between Saracens and Exeter Chiefs which saw Saracens add the domestic title to their European Rugby Champions Cup success.
“That is now being enhanced by England’s results in Australia and English rugby is back on a strong, upward path. It’s an excellent time for us to continue to strengthen that further over the next few seasons.”
