Special shirts on sale for Tankie’s Battle
Made by Macron and kindly sponsored by Oddballs, the shirts are available in sizes up to XXL and will be available in the club shop from Wednesday onwards priced £35 for juniors and £40 for adults.
Advanced telephone orders are being taken now on 0191 214 2826, with all proceeds going towards Paul ‘Tank’ Van-Zandvliet and associated good causes.
Tank was an instrumental part of the Newcastle Falcons side which won the 1997-8 Premiership title, but has recently received a diagnosis if inoperable brain cancer.
Former team-mates and the rugby community have rallied round to stage a benefit game this Friday, which sees a Falcons Legends side taking on a North East Select XV.
Tickets for the game are priced £10 and £20 for adults and £5 for juniors, with hospitality packages also available.
Confirmed players for the Falcons side include Premiership winners Pat Lam, Dean Ryan, Gary Armstrong, Garath Archer, Richard Metcalfe, Jim Naylor and Stuart Legg, plus other Newcastle greats including Stuart Grimes, Dave Walder, Carlo del Fava and Michael Stephenson, to name just a few.
Names including Rob Andrew and Jonny Wilkinson will also be attending in a non-playing capacity, with tickets available via 0871 226 6060, [**clicking here**][1] or from the stadium in person.
Proceeds from the event will be handled by Ward Hadaway and will go into a trust fund for Paul’s nine-year-old daughter, Hope Elle, as well as related charities.
