Tait not getting carried away despite flying start
The homegrown winger opened the scoring five minutes into a barnstorming performance, saying: “We got off to a great start with a pre-rehearsed move from first phase, and I was happy that it just opened up for me.
“We’d been working all week on nailing our roles from set-piece because we knew it would be big for us, and we applied the pressure well in the opening 15 minutes.
“Worcester came back at us as we knew they would, there was a little bit of indiscipline on our side to let them back into the game but we played in the right areas during the second half and had a lot of tempo.”
Asked what had been said in the changing room ahead of a monumental second-half effort, Tait said: “Half-time was pretty calm with clear messages, and we knew we had to start big.
“We did that, we knew what we were going to do and we were able to complete what we’d talked about.”
With a number of the club’s summer arrivals missing the game through injury, Tait was keen to stress the depth at the Falcons’ disposal as their tried-and-tested figures delivered a full five-point quota.
“We did make a lot of key signings and those guys have a huge amount of quality to offer during the season, but we’ve got some good boys here already and plenty of depth now,” he said.
“We’re not going to get carried away because it’s only one game, so we’re quickly moving the focus on to Sale away next Friday and putting in another really professional performance.”
