Tait tasks Falcons to fire against Saracens

Newcastle Falcons fullback Alex Tait says there is an excitement in the squad ahead of this tomorrow game against Saracens, but maintains he and his team mates are fully focused on the task in hand at Allianz Park.

Back in the fullback berth after last weekends enforced late switch to wing, the 26 year old is keen for he and his team mates to build on the good facets of play on show in last weekend’s draw against Wasps.

“We did some things very well last week but then we had some moments that weren’t so good and cost us a couple of soft scores and if they hadn’t gone in, we would have taken that win. So it’s key for us to cut out those errors this weekend at Sarries.”

One of the leading clubs in the Aviva Premiership, Mark McCall’s men currently sit third in the league table after another season and while a loss last week away to Sale may have certain quarters talking up the visitors chances, Tait insists he and his teammate’s are not taking anything for granted.

“Saracens are a massively physical side and like to play a game that is based heavily on territory. They have their structures, which they do very well and if we are not at the races on Saturday then we will have a difficult afternoon.”

“We know and have discussed that when we start well, we go on to have a good game throughout so we’ve been keeping things relatively fresh in training so we are ready to go this weekend and fire into the game.”

“If we can perform the way we know we can play in both attack and defence we should be able to compete and we’re going down there full of belief and trying to get that result.”

Saturdays match kicks off at 3pm with live text commentary via the club’s official twitter feed @FalconsRugby and the official Falcons app.
