‘Tank’ to join 100 Club at Bristol game
Known as ‘Tank’ for his famously abrasive playing style, the North East native played for Newcastle Gosforth during the amateur era, remaining on board for the professional revolution.
A key part of the forward pack which helped the Falcons to the 1997-98 Premiership title, the iconic front-rower has more recently come to public attention for his ongoing cancer fight.
Diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour earlier this year, Van-Zandvliet was the centre of attention at Kingston Park Stadium back in April when former team-mates reunited for a benefit match to raise funds for him and associated good causes.
Van-Zandvliet will be on hand for the Bristol game to accept his induction, and to talk about his future fundraising plans for cancer charities.
