THE FIRST CUMBRIA AVIVA TAG FESTIVAL HAILED AS GREAT SUCCESS
On Thursday 24th October Keith Robinson the Falcons Community Development Officer led the Aviva Schools Tag Rugby Festival, the firstto take place in Cumbria.
The festival took place at Penrith Rugby Club and involved 10 teams from 8 schools from around the Penrith area.
The schools involved were Plumpton, Kirkby Thore, Yanwath, Stainton, Morland, Temple Sowerby, Bolton and Lowther. Over a 100 children took part with over 165 tries scored throughout the day.
All participants did really well with Yanwath School eventually winning 5 – 4 against Kirkby Thore in the days final.
The festival was very competitive with each team playing 5 games and most of the results were very close with no less than 7 games ending with just one score between them!
The whole day was a great success enjoyed during a lovely sunny day at Penrith. A number of the children have expressed interest to join the local club and we hope they carry on playing in the future.
