Three a magic number for Falcons hospitality team
Newcastle Falcons are celebrating off field success today, after the efforts of the club’s conference and events team were recognised at the national 2016 Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards.
Headed by director of conference & events Jane Shepstone, the Kingston Park hospitality team were announced as the operations team of the year, while the overall hospitality experience claimed the silver award in the Small Stadium category.
There was also recognition for Assistant Conference & Events Manager Melissa Mallen, who scooped the silver award in the Star of the Future category, which aims to recognise individuals who shine in their work.
Founded in 2002, Stadium Experience, who organise the awards, represents 45 major football and rugby stadiums, which joined forces to work together and promote Stadia as venues for hosting conferences and events.
The organisation has fast become the voice for football and rugby stadia venues with membership activities including; PR, advertising, trade exhibitions, online marketing, social media and bi-monthly meetings to share best practice.
The three awards picked up at this year’s ceremony join those won in 2014, which declared the Falcons hospitality to be the best in the country.
Stadium Experience Chair Person Collette Salmon, commented: “Once again our members and Stadia across the UK show greatness in their field, they are always looking for ways to better the service and hospitality we offer, it is always a pleasure to recognise them who work so hard all year round to bring the best in their venues across the UK, they all work very hard and will continue too!”
Newcastle Rugby Ltd managing director Mick Hogan said: “We are very proud of Jane, Melissa and the rest of the team in winning these awards, which are a fantastic recognition of the efforts made by the staff at Kingston Park.
“The feedback we receive from guests at the stadium about the food, the service and the venue is always about how fantastic it is. To have that recognised at a prestigious national award ceremony is further validation of the great work of the team.
“After winning the overall award in 2014, repeat recognition at this year’s awards is testament to our team’s ability and how that measures up in an ever stronger award programme,”
