Tiesi Keen To Return To Action
With the biggest season ever in English domestic rugby about to get underway, Newcastle Falcons’ Gonzalo Tiesi is working hard to rehab a knee injury sustained late last season.
Although is still some weeks away from full fitness Tiesi, 30, believes his time in the gym with new Rehabilitation Specialist Toby Banfield is standing him in good stead for a return to action.
“Things are working out well post surgery and I’m working hard on my rehab. This year the club brought in Toby who is just working with injured people, so I’m working a lot with him at the minute. There are some long days, everyone who has been injured knows about it and sometimes it is a lot of work to get through the day but I see progress as the injury gets better.”
Falcons TV caught up with Tiesi less than two weeks before the start of the Rugby World Cup 2015, a tournament which, had circumstances been different, the Centre could have hoped to be involved in alongside team mate Juan Pablo Socino and fellow countryman Juan Pablo Orlandi.
However, Tiesi will be watching Argentina closely and believes that Los Pumas may do well in this Autumn’s competition.
“I think they have a very good chance; their pool starts against New Zealand which is going to be a very tough ask, but if they can beat Georgia, Tonga and Namibia then it’s through to a quarter final against France or Ireland which is a winable game.
“They will take a lot of confidence from their performance in the rugby Championship where they played some good rugby.”
