Tri Counties campaign continues

Last Sunday saw the Under 16s Tri Counties team take on Cheshire in the first of their three matches against other Northern teams.

Held at Queen Ethelberga’s School in York, the game saw two tries from captain Isaac Brace as well as scores from back row Fraser McNee and second row Alex Hayton.

Jake Rogers kicked two conversions before being replaced by Joe Pickering late into the game who kicked the third conversion.

Although the Tri Counties team ended the game 26-36 down it was in all a good performance. The team did their best to play a good game of rugby amidst very strong wings and showed great ambition with the ball in hand, while their set piece was solid and provided a good platform.

All Tri Counties players got their chance to make it onto the pitch and the boys fared well in their opening game, with many catching the eyes of the on looking North of England selectors.

The squad’s next training will be at 6.30pm this Thursday (30th October) at Kingston Park. This is a late addition to the training schedule so any players who are struggling to make this date should contact James Ponton on james.ponton@newcastle-falcons.co.uk. The session will include both in and outdoor training along with review, gym work and rugby.

The Tri Counties’ next game is against Yorkshire this Sunday, 2nd November at Kings, Macclesfield (Cumberland Street, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1DA).
