Tyne Met Rugby Excellence programme January highlights
A strong start to 2023 for Falcons Community’s Rugby Excellence Programme, celebrating 7 participants representing their county U18 boys teams, last weekend.
For Northumberland U18s, we saw Josh, Olly, Ant, Corey and Lewis all playing against Yorkshire U18s. For Cumbria U18s, we had Kane and Finley who played against Durham.
For the upcoming weekend we have Macey, Brooke, Rachel, Maisie, Brooke & Summer playing for Northumberland U18 girls team as well as Molly, Charlotte & Grace playing for Durham U18 girls team.
The Tynemet programmes ethos focuses on player development, and it has been great to see exceptionally positive rugby player pathway progression, with several players playing representative rugby.
Additionally, Falcons Community hosted their first Open Training Event of year for the programme. It was great to see 37 players attend the evening.
The Open Training Event was a great opportunity for players to experience what the programme has to offer, starting with a gym session in the main gym run by our Strength and Conditioning coach. This was followed by a pitch session on the main pitch at Kingston Park Stadium, the home of Newcastle Falcons and Newcastle Thunder.
The next Open Training Event will take place on Wednesday, February 22 at Kingston Park from 12pm-4pm.
The event will be open to all U16s (Year 11) male and female players who want to study a full-time programme at Kingston Park.
