Under 16s Tri Counties squad selected
Newcastle Falcons is pleased to announce the Under 16 squad selected for the Tri Counties team 2014/15.
Selected over a three week period when Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria play against one another, the Tri Counties team then goes on to play Yorkshire, Cheshire and Lancashire.
Falcons Academy Head Coach James Ponton said: “Fielding a strong Tri Counties side against the more southern counties enables more players from Northumberland, Durham and Cumbria to make their way into the North of England squad and hopefully push on further from there.”
This season sees a 32 man squad head into training at Barnard Castle School. That squad will be whittled down further to 22 for each of the three upcoming games.
The Tri Counties training session will take place on Wednesday 22nd October starting from 6pm with a briefing for parents. All members of the squad are expected to report to Barnard Castle School, County Durham (DL12 8UN) for this session.
The games will then be played as follows:
– vs Cheshire: Sunday 26th October, Queen Ethelberga, Thorpe Underwood Hall, Thorpe Green Lane, York, YO26 9SS
– vs Yorkshire: Sunday 2nd November, Kings Macclesfield School, Cumberland Street, Macclesfield, Cheshire, SK10 1DA
– vs Lancashire, Sunday 9th November, Giggleswick School, Giggleswick, Settle, North Yorkshire, BD24 0DE

The Under 16s Tri Counties coaching team for this year is comprised of three coaches, one from each county represented; Graham Kidd of Cumbria will coach the forwards while Durham’s Phil Wallis coaches the backs and Mick Sutherland of Northumberland takes on the role of Defence Coach.
