VACANCY: Assistant academy strength and conditioning coach

This an exciting prospect for anyone wanting to work in an ambitious and progressive club with a track record for developing players to Premiership and international standards.

Reporting to the academy manager and academy strength and conditioning coach, the successful candidate will plan, deliver and review all strength and conditioning elements of the Junior Academy, AASE Scheme and Developing Player Programme in line with the club’s physical development protocols. The main focus of the role is on individual player development.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

* Plan the strength and conditioning element of the Junior Academy programme in conjunction with other members of coaching staff.

* Manage and deliver individual physical development programmes for all PDG players with regular coaching and feedback, visiting off site where appropriate.

* Complete regular fitness testing with all Academy athletes and keep up-to-date records of the development and progress of each athlete.

* Provide comprehensive RTP programmes for injured Junior EAP and PDG players.

* Attend all Junior Academy training sessions and fixtures providing warm-ups to all field-based sessions and matches.

* Provide generic physical development programmes for all associated athletes, including overseeing the physical development aspect of the DPP.

* Support EAPs individual development as required by the Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach, visiting off site at associated schools or clubs (including Satellite Centres).

* Plan and deliver physical development programs and match day S&C support to the AASE Scheme, visiting off site where appropriate.

* Provide wider education to players, their support networks and the rugby community regarding physical development and best practice (via seminars and workshops).

* Assist with Senior Academy delivery as required by the Academy S&C Coach, provided it does not clash with any Junior Academy duties.

**KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS**

* Progress in fitness test scores, body composition and improvements in on-field performance

* Up to date record keeping and monitoring on each athlete’s Individual Development Plan.

* Quarterly report for presentation to the Academy Management Board.

* Feedback from players/stakeholders on quality of service provided.

**DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS**

* Minimum UKSCA Level 3 Qualification (or equivalent) or working towards.

* Full UK driving licence and access to a car/transport.

* Educated to degree level in relevant field.

* At least two years experience in the workplace as a Strength and Conditioning Coach.

**DESIRABLE EXPERIENCES AND CHARACTER TRAITS**

* Strong understanding of elite level rugby (preferably with some playing experience).

* Strong understanding of youth development, coaching methods and physiology.

* Organised, efficient and open-minded in all aspects of work.

* Able to take initiative when working independently or as part of a team.

**SALARY**

In the region of £15,000 to £20,000 per annum, depending on experience.
