Job Title: Strength and Conditioning Internship

Company: Newcastle Falcons Rugby Club

Duration: November 2013 – June 2014

Main Roles/Responsibilities:

Successful applicants will be responsible for assisting in the daily delivery of strength and conditioning sessions to first team and academy players, data collection, processing and performing daily monitoring processes. Sessions will include gym and field based sessions throughout the week working within an interdisciplinary team. Applicants will be expected to commit to at least four full days per week. Experience with Microsoft Excel is also desirable.

The position is unpaid however individual development is a key part of the role to ensure that the applicant develops the necessary skills as a coach and attains good working experience to acquire full time employment within the strength and conditioning industry. There is also the opportunity to work towards achieving the UKSCA accreditation.

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

Hold a sports science degree or be working towards it or have relevant experience. The role is ideal for highly motivated, enthusiastic, confident and hardworking individuals with a passion for coaching and strength and conditioning. The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and have good communication skills is also important. Newcastle Falcons adopt an athlete centred approach where relationship building is central, therefore applicants should hold a similar philosophy.
