VIDEO: Walder looks ahead to Anglo-Welsh Cup kick off
Newcastle Falcons attack coach Dave Walder says Craig Willis’ start at inside centre in Sunday’s game is one of the changes that should excite, as the Anglo-Welsh Cup gets underway against Northampton Saints (KO 3pm)
Billed as Old Rivals, New Heroes, the return of the competition which took a year’s break during last year’s World Cup, is a welcome one for Walder as it affords opportunities to players yet to fully feature this season.
Speaking to Falcons TV, Walder said: “It’s a chance for people who have been knocking on the door and asking for game time to come in and put their hand up to play
“It will be exciting to see Craig go at 12. It’s somewhere I think his skill-set is really suited to, with his passing ability and his kicking ability. It will give us another ball player in the back line which is exciting.”
