VIDEO: Waldouck on Chiefs, Saints & new ventures
Newcastle Falcons centre Dom Waldouck insists he and his team-mates are not going to “Make up the numbers” as they face Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons are growing in confidence following mightily impressive performances and results so far this season, including last weekend’s exhilarating 46-31 win over Northampton Saints, which saw the team overturn a 14 point deficit in a pulsating match.
And while this weekend’s hosts may be the favourites, the former England Saxon contends that Newcastle should travel with belief.
Speaking to Falcons TV, Waldouck said: “Sandy Park is a really tough place to go, probably one of the toughest in the Premiership and Exeter are a quality tea, it’s a huge challenge and one that we are looking forward to.
“We are playing some good stuff at the moment, we’ve got a good game plan to go down there and we’re not going down to make up the numbers. Hopefully, we can build on last week and get another performance out of it. “
Waldouck starts at inside-centre for the Aviva Premiership Rugby round 16 fixture having featured predominately for the Falcons in the 13 shirt, but with plenty of experience in his career one place in, it is a positional shift that holds little concern for the 29-year-old.
He added: “There are subtle differences between the two and you adapt slightly towards that, but I enjoy playing in both positions and it’s a good challenge for me to step in one position this weekend and I’m looking forward to it.”
