Waldouck and Wilson coach the coaches
Concentrating on the breakdown and defence, Falcons players Mark Wilson and Dominic Waldouck led the session which saw Blyth under-16s providing the players to be coached.
During the session, Mark and Dom worked on various areas of the breakdown and defence, using drills which they themselves do daily as first-team players.
With coaches gaining an insight into what the professional players and coaches do in everyday training, the masterclass proved to be a great success for all in attendance.
This is the fifth ‘Coach the Coaches’ masterclass this season, the previous one having been run by Falcons strength and conditioning coach Tim Payne in Cumbria.
The next session is on the April 19 at Kingston Park Stadium, with the theme of scrummaging. This will involve Falcons players passing on knowledge, allowing coaches to plan and deliver low-intensity sessions on the scrum and body position throughout pre-season.
