Watson says Falcons will rise to Wasps challenge

The 3pm kick-off puts the Falcons up against the side which claimed a 9-8 triumph when they met in Coventry last month, the winger saying: “We had a real close game against them which could have gone either way. I think they’re going to prepare for this game like they have every other. It’s a big game for them as it is for us, so we’re all looking forward to it.

“They’ve been playing some great rugby. They had a big win against Toulon and they’ve been playing very well in the Premiership too. It’s about us trying to stop their momentum.

“They’ve got big ball carriers, Nathan Hughes especially, and the Piutau brothers in the centres, along with some pace out wide. I think they will look to play an expansive game and the forwards will carry it well in the middle.”

Beaten 21-19 at Bath in their last outing, Watson said: “It’s been a strange season. We’ve been up and down. I think we made a few errors against Bath so we’ll try and correct those, and hopefully that will pay dividends on Sunday.

“It’s pretty tough to deal with it but you’ve only got five games to make up for it. It’s all about focusing on that, you’ve got to bounce back and get a win next. That’s the mentality we’ve got to have.”
