WILSON READY TO DO THE DOUBLE
The Kendal-born back-row and his fellow teammates were back in training on New Year’s Day in preparation for the Aviva Premiership showdown.
And Wilson, who was named man-of-the-match against London Wasps last week, believes the Falcons need to control the game better than they did when the two sides met in Salford back in September.
“We did a job on them at their place earlier on in the season, and we’ll be looking to have more possession this time round as we look for the win,” said the Cumbrian, who was part of the side that grinded out a 15-14 victory over Sale at the AJ Bell Stadium.
“As Dean [Richards] has said, Sale will be another difficult test for us, but one that we’ve been looking forward to all week,” he added.
Sale travel to the North East on the back of a losing bonus point away to Leicester Tigers, and after notable scalps over Gloucester Rugby and Bath Rugby this term, Steve Diamond’s men are well positioned in the table. Wilson is under no illusions at the challenge ahead, saying: “It will be a good battle for the back-row against the likes of Dan Braid and David Seymour who are both very good over the ball.
“They’ve also got James Gaskell who is very athletic, but looking at that, we’ve got our own strengths in the back-row and it’s going to be a good duel on Friday night.
Wilson is the club’s featured interview in Friday’s official match day programme which includes his thoughts on his last minute inclusion in the starting XV against Wasps and his view on Cumbrian rugby.
