YORK EYES ITALIAN DOUBLE
The back-row who took man-of-the-match Andy Saull’s sublime offload to touchdown during a 37-15 win last time-out, believes victory in Lake Garda is not a given.
“Calvisano are a physical team, and if you let them get into you then you will be on the losing side,” said the 23-year-old.
“They have some big ball-carriers and they are physical, but, if we trust in what we do well, we should have enough to win the game,” he added.
Looking at ways in which the Falcons can flourish ahead of three crucial Aviva Premiership matches over the festive period, York said: “In terms of where we can improve, our precision and patience are the main things when we get the ball.
“Obviously we want to play as much as we can, but in wet and windy conditions you have to build your pressure and look after possession when you have it inside their half.
“I would think the conditions would be a bit different to what we had at Kingston Park, but hopefully the result will be similar and keep us right in that race for the quarter-finals.”
With this weekend’s result going someway to shaping up the Pool as the knock-out stages loom large, York added: “We set out with the five points in mind on Sunday so, in terms of achieving that goal, we are happy enough. That puts us in a decent position going forward in being joint-top of the group and hopefully we can get the same result out in Italy on Saturday.”
