Hooker George McGuigan returned for a third spell at Newcastle in the summer of 2025.

The England A international scored 48 tries in 165 appearances during his previous two spells with the club, having been the first ever player to graduate from their ACE programme at Gosforth Academy into the first team.

Having moved to Leicester and back to Newcastle, McGuigan departed for Gloucester midway through the 2022-23 season, spending two years at Kingsholm before ending the 2024-25 season on loan at Welsh side, Ospreys.
