Newcastle Red Bulls scrum-half Simón Benítez Cruz is on the bench for Argentina on Saturday when they host New Zealand.

The 25-year-old this week signed for the Kingston Park club, where he will arrive following the culmination of the Rugby Championship.

That tournament starts on Saturday, with Los Pumas hosting the All Blacks in the Argentinian city of Córdoba.

Benítez Cruz is in line to win his fourth test cap, having played twice against England and once against Uruguay in recent weeks.

The Buenos Aires native also played for his country during June’s historic win over the British & Irish Lions – a game for which formal caps were not awarded.

Saturday’s test against New Zealand kicks off at 10.10pm UK time and is being shown live on Sky Sports.
