Kingston Park is gearing up to host up to host its first ever rugby union and rugby league match on the same day this weekend as the new 3G artificial pitch hosts both Newcastle Falcons and Gateshead Thunder this Sunday 14th September.

Commencing at 3.00pm with the Aviva Premiership Home Opener for the Falcons v London Irish the pitch will then be turned around for the Thunder’s Championship One Playoff game vs Hemel Stags at 6.00pm. Supporters can watch both matches from the pre-booked price of £15 for adults and £7.50 for children. Those fans who want to watch just the Thunder v Hemel Stags game can do so for £10/£5 pre-booked via 0871 226 6060 or £12/£6 on the day. Entry to the rugby league game only is after 4.30pm

Supporters wishing to attend only the Thunder match are advised that with people exiting the ground after the Falcons fixture, car parking will be available, although we ask for your patience in accessing the site or suggest that supporters make use of the nearby Metro links to make your journey as easy as possible.

Season ticket holders of both clubs can come along for free to both games. Thunder season ticket holders will have to redeem their season ticket for a seat prior to entry or by ringing 0871 226 6060.

At the game there will be happy hour bar prices between 1.30pm – 2.30pm and between the games from 4.45pm – 6.00pm in all supporter concourse bars. There will be live music in the West Stand Bar between the two games and from 5.30pm free samples of cakes and biscuits from the Falcons Bakery.

Also present at the weekend will be the Falcons Big Screen. This will be in place for all Aviva Premiership home matches this season and will be situated in the North East corner of the ground. Unfortunately it won’t be in operation for the Thunder v Stags game as it requires a feed from TV cameras that are only in place for the Falcons v Irish encounter

Speaking about the addition of the Big Screen commercial director Duncan Edward said

“Feedback from fans is that the Big Screen and the ability to see key moments in the match is a key element of the match-day experience. Through a new partnership with Kong Media we will be able to supply the screen at every home Premiership game this season plus certain others as well. We are sure fans will be pleased with this new regular addition to Kingston Park.
