Newcastle Falcons final pool opponents in the European Rugby Challenge Cup were decided last weekend as Burcharest Wolves and Calvisano completed their two legged play-off match with the Romanian side edging out as narrow victors.

Needing to overhaul a five point deficit on their home ground, Calvisano had looked to seize the initiative as the led 6 – 0 after forty minutes, but a try from Sean Morrell and conversion from Luke Samoa five minutes into the second period gave the Wolves a six point cushion.

In a frenetic final five minutes, Calvisano had looked to have stolen the Pool 3 place as the took advantage of the sin binning of Alexandru Mitu to score a try through Rodolfo Ambrosio, converted by Ben Seymour.

Their hopes were dashed however in added on time as Samoa added a penalty for the Wolves to secure the participation in this season’s tournament.

The Falcons will play Bucharest at home on Friday October 17th (kick off 8pm) and away in the Romanian capital on the weekend of January 22/23/24/25 2015.
