Falcons duo shine against New Zealand

Newcastle Falcons players Kane Thompson and Alesana Tuilagi acquitted themselves well in Samoa’s first ever home test against New Zealand, in a match where the Pacific Islanders ran their illustrious visitors close.

Both Falcons men played a full 80 minutes, while Tuilagi was also at the heart of the pre game show, leading his team mates in Samoa’s sivi-tau, in response to the All Blacks Haka.

During the match, Tuilagi put in a solid show on his 31st international offering his traditional brand of hard running and heavy hits and was often found coming in off his wing looking for work.

Thompson also offered an experienced presence in the Samoan pack and was able to exert some influence as he disrupted New Zealand’s line out and mauling set pieces.

While ultimately beaten by nine points, matching their visitors on the try count and being within one score up to five minutes from time, Samoa will head into the Pacific Nations Cup with renewed confidence.

Kicking off 18th July, Thompson, Tuilagi and Sinoti Sinoti will be part of the Samoan training squad for the tournament along with Eric Fry in the USA Eagles party and Tane Takulua, Uili Kolo’ofai and Nili Latu involved with Tonga.

Falcons fans will have the opportunity to watch these international stars and more in the Falcons squad during 2015/16, with season ticket memberships for the full campaign available now.

Prices start from £204 for adult standing and from £312 for adult seating, with all adult and concessions season tickets eligible to claim up to two free Under 11 season tickets.
