Newcastle Falcons offers its heartfelt congratulations to former fly half Jonny Wilkinson, who is the headline name of seven new inductees who will join the Premiership Rugby Hall of Fame at a gala dinner on September 2nd.

Fellow Internationals Lawrence Dallaglio , Josh Lewsey, Simon Shaw, James Simpson-Daniel and Phil Vickery, along with Leicester CEO Peter Wheeler will join Wilkinson at London’s HAC for the event, which raises money for Sport Relief and Restart Rugby, the Rugby Players Association’s charity.

With a glittering array of achievements earned throughout a spectacular career, including a World Cup winner’s medal and two Heineken Cups, it is his efforts in the shirt of the Falcons that have earned him his inclusion.

After a cameo debut against Bristol in December 1997, Jonny went on to make 138 appearances for the Falcons, scoring an incredible 1,489 points through 25 tries, 196 conversions, 302 penalties and 22 drop goals.

His contribution for the club extended beyond his on field exploits too, as he supported the club’s award winning Community Foundation alongside his team-mates.

Commenting on the induction, Newcastle Falcons Managing Director Mick Hogan said: “It’s fantastic news that Jonny is being recognised for everything he achieved in his time at the Falcons and it comes as no surprise to us that one of the club’s all time greats has been included.”

“He is an icon of the world game and the recognition from Premiership Rugby is hugely deserved and I am sure everyone associated with the club, from supporters to players, coaches and staff will extend their congratulations to Jonny.”
