Falcons mourn the loss of Terry Parsons
The 48-year-old father of five collapsed during the first half of Newton Aycliffe’s game at Houghton.
Despite the heroic attempts of fellow players to resuscitate him and the efforts of the Air Ambulance, Terry’s death was confirmed at Sunderland Royal Hospital.
Newcastle Falcons wishes to pass on its condolences to Terry’s family and friends at this difficult time, and to all involved with Newton Aycliffe RFC.
Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards said: “It is nothing short of tragic what has happened here.
“Terry died playing the game he loved, and clubs like Newton Aycliffe are the absolute lifeblood of our sport.
“I can’t even begin to imagine what Terry’s family and friends must be going through, not to mention Newton Aycliffe as a club.
“The deepest sympathies of myself and everybody at Newcastle Falcons go out to them during what is obviously an incredibly difficult period.”
