Falcons set to fly in Pacific Nations Cup
The 2015 Pacific Nations Cup gets underway this weekend, with a strong Falcons presence in the tournament, with the club represented in the Samoan, Tongan and USA squads.
A total of seven Falcons are likely to be in action over the course of the next two weeks, with the tournament playing a key part of the Rugby World Cup preparations of the competing nations.
On show for the club while representing their countries are Alesana Tuilagi, Sinoti Sinoti, Kane Thompson (Samoa) Tane Takulua, Uili Kolo’ofai, Nili Latu (Tonga) and Eric Fry (USA)
In the first round of games this weekend, Latu starts as captain and Takulua is on the bench as Tonga face Fiji in Suva, while Prop Eric Fry will play club team mates Tuilagi and Sinoti as their respective sides face off in San Jose.
Sinoti’s inclusion on the Samoa team sheet represents the Falcons Player of the Season’s first international appearance since 2013, while fellow Wing Tuilagi will captain his country for the first time as he makes his 31st international appearance. Meanwhile fellow Falcon Thompson has been rested for this weekend’s game after impressing in Samoa’s narrow loss to New Zealand in Apia.
With a growing commitment to the competition, World Rugby is providing a live stream of all Pacific Nations Cup matches (subject to territory-specific geo-blocking) so every try, pass, tackle and kick will be broadcast live with round-by-round highlights also available online and on the World Rugby TV programme.
