Green, 23, rose to prominence with Leicester Tigers and made his debut aged just 19 during a 46-16 victory over Saracens in the Aviva Premiership in 2009, as a new wave of Tigers came off the production line.

Making 19 appearances for the Welford Road club, including 11 Aviva Premiership outings, Green had the perfect introduction to professional rugby prior to making his Leicester bow.

Named Tigers Academy captain for the 2008-09 campaign, Green was then handed his chance to shine on the big stage in a friendly against a touring South Africa in 2009 which his side won 22-17.

Whilst contracted to Richard Cockerill’s men, the 6’ 4” 18st 10lb lock had a number of spells on loan at Championship outfit Nottingham to aid his development before signing a two-year contract with Leeds in 2012.

The Norwich-born lineout specialist, whose international exploits extend to England Under-20s, has gone on to make 38 appearances in all competitions for the West Yorkshire club and has featured heavily in Leeds’ march towards securing a play-off spot this term.

Green came up against Newcastle in both legs of the Championship play-off semi-finals in 2013 which the North East club won on their way to making an immediate return to the Aviva Premiership.

“I’m looking forward to moving to Newcastle Falcons in the summer,” said Green.

“I’ve enjoyed my time at Leeds and I will be doing everything I can to help them in the end of season Championship play-offs.

“Newcastle is an exciting challenge for me and it will be great to team up with Dom Barrow again, a player I know very well from his days at Leeds” added Green.

Newcastle director of rugby Dean Richards said: “Calum has already shown that he is more than capable of performing in the Aviva Premiership during his time with Leicester, and I’m delighted that he has made the decision to move to Newcastle.

“His strong displays for Leeds over the last two seasons have really caught our eye and he is at a good age with an amazing amount of potential.

“He is a fantastic signing.”
