Falcons trio shine on England debuts
The Cumbrian came on early in the second half and followed up his own charge-down to score in the right corner, in the first of two scheduled summer internationals.
The Twickenham clash saw Falcons’ team-mate Callum Chick starting at No.8 and putting in a composed 53 minutes of action on his England debut.
Prop Trevor Davison also came on for his first cap when he played the closing quarter, and Newcastle lock Greg Peterson put in a full 80-minute shift for the USA during the Independence Day fixture.
England, who also have Falcons wing Adam Radwan in their squad, will conclude their summer schedule when they host Canada at Twickenham on Saturday.
That game is a 3pm kick-off, and will be shown live in the UK on Channel 4.
