Fans’ forum evening a success
Chairman Semore Kurdi, director of rugby Dean Richards and managing director Mick Hogan spent an hour and a half taking unvetted questions from supporters at the well-attended evening.
Topics as ever were wide and varied, the panel receiving positive feedback on this season’s improved on-field performance.
Hogan and Kurdi gave supporters an insight into the improving financial position of the club and encouraging season ticket sales for next season, the club revealing they will have a new kit supplier for next season.
The signings of Jersey flanker Gary Graham and Lyon prop Sami Mavinga were announced exclusively to those attending the forum, as were the contract extensions signed by Jon Welsh and Chris Harris.
Richards gave an injury update which included news of an elbow dislocation for Sean Robinson, a hernia for Nick Civetta and an ACL tear for Tom Penny, the director of rugby offering a positive forecast for the British and Irish Lions in New Zealand while once again emphasising the high quality of the Newcastle squad for next season.
Kurdi talked about long-term plans to develop the North Stand, off-field synergies with Newcastle Thunder rugby league and the improved bar and changing room facilities, while Hogan spoke about the city’s bid to host next year’s European finals ahead of a decision in April.
Kurdi ended the evening by thanking supporters for creating such a wonderful family atmosphere, the fans’ forum once again proving to be an informative and entertaining evening for all concerned.
