The Newcastle Rugby Foundation are currently recruiting for the position of community development officer.

Reporting to the Foundation’s head of development & funding, this role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced community rugby coach to join the community team. This role will suit an enthusiastic and passionate individual who is looking for a new experience in an exciting rugby environment.

You will be responsible for delivering a range of Falcons Community Foundation programmes to schools and community groups, as well as promoting and delivering holiday coaching camps and match-day festivals.

**PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**

To engage, enhance and develop rugby within the community, providing both coaching, education and club development support.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

– Deliver various Foundation programmes and festivals to primary schools, secondary schools, rugby clubs and community groups within North East.
– Develop and deliver community sessions as part of Project Rugby, Mixed Ability Rugby, Mini Falcons, Falcons School Connections
– Develop relationships with local clubs to support the transition of new players.
– Organise, promote and deliver community coaching camps during school holidays.
– Organise and deliver pre-match festivals, coaching camps and other foundation activity on Falcons match days.
– Organise, promote and support the delivery of a CPD programme for coaches, teachers and volunteers.
– Promote & sell the Falcons School Connections programme.
– Attend local, regional and national programme development meetings.
– Promote Newcastle Falcons ensuring the rugby community are kept up to date with the clubsinitiatives & offers.
– Liaise with the local RFU Rugby Development Team to deliver a wide range of high quality activities to a wide range of people, meeting multiple objectives
– Develop partnerships with key organisations to ensure longevity of the post.
– Assist the Funding & Development Manager in preparing and submitting reports & funding applications.
– Support the development of the Newcastle Thunder Community Programme as and when required

In addition to the duties which this job normally entails the Employee may from time to time be required to undertake reasonable additional or other duties.

**KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS**

– Achieving various Newcastle Rugby Foundation targets as measured by upshot M&E system
– Number of participants and coaches engaging in a variety of programmes against targets.
– Increased engagement of Schools and Clubs with the Newcastle Rugby Foundation.
– Feedback on quality of experience from stakeholders

**MUST HAVE**

– RFU Level 2 Coaching Award
– Experience of coaching rugby to a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and ability levels
– Experience of working in a dynamic team environment
– Excellent communication skills
– Strong promotional skills and the ability to manage own workload
– Ability to work as part of a team and meet organisational demands
– Ability to create and maintain strong working links and relationships
– Ability to work to a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
– Ability to make decisions and use own initiative
– Self-motivated, organised, enthusiastic and honest personal attributes
– Knowledge of local and national rugby initiatives.
– Current UK Driving License
– Access to a car

**SALARY**

£18k to £20k per annum, depending on experience.
