Freddie Clarke has joined Newcastle Falcons on a one-year deal after playing almost 200 games for Gloucester Rugby.

The 32-year-old brings vast Gallagher PREM experience to the Kingston Park club after nine seasons with the Cherry and Whites, for whom he played 23 times last season.

Standing at 6 foot 5, Clarke is capable of playing in the second or back rows, and is relishing the prospect of a move to the True North.

Keen to do his talking on the pitch, Clarke said: “I’m excited for a fresh challenge, in a new city with a great group.”

Director of rugby, Steve Diamond said: “Anyone who’s watched the PREM in recent years will know that Freddie’s a quality player.

“He’s got vast PREM experience, he’s still in great nick physically and he plays across several positions, which gives us real flexibility in the pack.

“He’ll add a huge amount to the group both on and off the field, and I’m really pleased to have him on board as we continue building for the new season.”
