The Fijian winger enjoyed a bumper first season with the Falcons, averaging a try every other game in the Aviva Premiership as well as topping the league-wide Opta stats for metres made with ball in hand.

Sonatane Takulua was awarded try of the season for a length-of-the-field team score against Northampton, the Tonga scrum-half having been a close second in the player of the season awards.

Callum Chick won academy player of the season after a year in which he helped England Under-20s win the Junior World Championship, the Ponteland native also making his Premiership debut in a breakthrough campaign.

Nili Latu won community player of the year for his tireless efforts promoting the game, while Keith Evans won clubman of the year for his outstanding work with the maintenance team.

The awards were handed out at the club’s well-attended Big Bash at Kingston Park Stadium on Tuesday night, with the full playing squad and management line-up in attendance along with many of the club’s supporters.

Funds were also raised for the Newcastle Rugby Foundation, and the club wishes to thank everyone who contributed to making the evening such a success.
