HITZ student of the month
Newcastle Rugby Foundation’s HITZ Student of the Month has been awarded to Charlie.
Charlie’s academic journey was filled with struggles before joining the HITZ programme. He felt alienated by his teachers, which negatively impacted his education and made him lose interest in school.
Charlie’s situation took a turn when he joined Newcastle College, which gave him access to a wealth of opportunities. He is currently enrolled in the Level 2 Sport course and the HITZ Programme, which have both proved to be transformative.
Thanks to the flexible pace of the courses, Charlie is now thoroughly enjoying his education without feeling overwhelmed. He is achieving goals that once seemed impossible and has discovered a passion for sports. The HITZ programme, with its emphasis on physical activity, has also helped Charlie lose an impressive 10 stone, which has had a positive impact on his physical health.
Outside of college, Charlie has been making strides in his part-time job. Where he was recently promoted to a supervisor role, which is a testament to his hard work and dedication.
HITZ is an education and employability course that runs in partnership with Newcastle College and Premiership Rugby. The programme aims to re-engage young people in education using sport as a vehicle.
