Grassroots rugby clubs are being offered the chance to raise significant funds through the Newcastle 2019 Finals weekend and to develop their members’ commercial acumen thanks to a session next Monday.

Taking place at Kingston Park Stadium, from 7pm and delivered by Newcastle Falcons’ John Oates, the session is aimed at providing club members with vital skills to enhance their commercial revenues and to earn commission off hospitality sales for the showcase European matches next May.

With over 40% of hospitality capacity already sold for the Heineken Champions Cup final, Newcastle 2019 organisers are now offering clubs the opportunity to earn 15% commission on sales to their commercial partners and networks as part of the event’s legacy programme.

That commission comes by the way of a finder’s fee for introductions to the businesses and decision-makers that the clubs have access to, with figures of up to £500 available per table of 10 sold for the finals.

With fewer than 3000 general sale tickets remaining for the Heineken Champions Cup final on May 11 and the European Rugby Challenge Cup also reporting record-setting early sales, the Newcastle 2019 finals are proving to be eagerly anticipated, with this programme offering a tangible way to put money back into clubs.

Newcastle 2019 event director Mick Hogan said: “Our finals are shaping up to be fantastic events with sales surpassing all expectations for both matches. We are looking forward to delivering rugby’s greatest ever party.

“Our local rugby clubs have proven to be fantastic partners of the Falcons over many years and within those clubs are organisations and individuals who purchase hospitality.
“By empowering the clubs with the skills to facilitate Newcastle 2019 hospitality sales, we are ensuring the commissions’ payable stay within rugby.

“The session being provided is free of charge and in John, is being delivered by a person with vast levels of experience in the sporting world’s commercial environment and will not only provide clubs with an immediate financial gain but also with the skills to maximise their opportunities in the longer term future.”
