KP Bars switch to Stack Cups
Drinking vessels at Kingston Park Stadium are undergoing an overhaul this year as the club unveils a new range of branded pint holders at Friday’s Aviva Premiership game against Bath Rugby (KO 19:45)
Sporting images of Evan Olmstead, Sinoti Sinoti, Will Welch and Mark Wilson in action, the new Stack Cups will replace the traditional disposable plastic cups which have been used to serve drinks in the past, as the club looks to cut down on the amount of waste generated by a match day.
Fully washable and reusable, the new cups will be used to serve drinks in the South and West concourses, as well as the Tap & Tackle and 1877 Bars and will see supporters will pay a £1 deposit per cup on their initial order.
Fresh cups will be issued in return for used ones when purchasing further drinks, with supporters able to return their final used cup to a dedicated collection point and claim back the £1 deposit at the end of the match, or take the cup home as a memento.
Additional designs featuring other members of the squad will become available over the course of the remainder of the season, making them into a collectible item for those chosing to take them away.
As part of the club’s efforts to reduce waste, the £1 deposit system will also apply to the ground’s ever popular two-pint pots.
As well as offering the club an opportunity to be more environmentally friendly, thanks to a specially designed handle the new stack cups also allow a more secure way for supporters to carry multiple drinks back to the stands.
Already being used in the Aviva Premiership at Exeter Chiefs’ Sandy Park and Saracens’ Allianz Park, the club hopes the new cups will further improve supporters’ match-day experience.
