Laycock ready for exciting 7s
Newcastle Falcons 7s coach Mark Laycock is looking forward to this Saturday’s Singha Premiership Rugby 7s round at Kingston Park, and is expecting his side to put on an entertaining show.
Laycock is once again entrusted with the clubs summer seven’s campaign and has played a big part in the clubs enviable record of making the finals in every series they have competed.
Speaking to Falcons TV after the final training session for his squad, Laycock said: “We’re really pleased with hoe training has gone, the boys have gelled together over the last couple of days that we’ve been training we’ve managed to get through a few things in terms of how we want to play so we’re now looking forward to Saturday.”
In a side made up of exciting academy prospects and experience international 7s specialists from the Scotland 7s team, Laycock is tipping his home grown talents to excite the crowd and impress in their first big event for the club.
“There is some real electric pace there and the two forwards, Callum and Joe are very smart rugby players so we’ll see them cause defenders some problems.”
“I’m confident they’ll fit in to the environment really well, they have all played here, either as England U18s or our U18 team, so they know the club, the know what it’s about, the only real difference for them is there’s a few TV cameras and a few more people in the stand watching them.”
