Legends left mark on Falcons Tait
One of only a handful of players in the current Falcons squad that lined up alongside some of the legends returning on Friday, Alex Tait is looking forward to seeing some of the clubs most famous faces return for Friday’s Falcons Legends game.
Making his debut as a fresh faced 19 year old in 2008, Tait has experience of playing alongside the likes of Tom May, Jamie Noon and Andy Perry and is looking forward to seeing them once again out on the Kingston Park field.
Speaking with Falcons TV, Tait said: “I came through the academy when Noony and Tom May were playing, so they were people I was looking up to at the time and obviously Burkey is back in the Toon as well, which will be great to see, hopefully he has one of his good performances lined up.”
“It will be great to see them back and I’m sure it will be a really good game and I’ll be here to watch the boys and see how they are still going and trucking along.“
Having made his initial break into the team while Burke was still part of the squad, the Aussie fullback’s retirement through injury saw Tait succeed him in the club’s 15 jersey, a position that has been his primary role ever since.
“As a young fullback it was good to learn off him and pick some tips of him. They are some big boots to fill and I don’t know if I have to be honest! To follow a legend like him was a bit of an honour.”
