Murray McCallum commits to Newcastle Falcons
Newcastle Falcons prop Murray McCallum has extended his stay in the True North by signing a new two-year contract.
The 28-year-old Scot has played 40 times for the Falcons since arriving in the summer of 2023, scoring one try.
Capped three times by his country, the Dunfermline-born scrummager made his professional breakthrough with Edinburgh before spending time with Glasgow and Worcester Warriors.
Falcons Director of rugby Steve Diamond said: “I worked with Muz during our time together at Worcester, and he’s a very important part of our squad up here at Newcastle.
“He plays on both sides of the front row to a high level, he’s very durable and he’s brilliant behind the scenes.
“He’s a big character around the place who really helps drive the culture, and it’s great that he wants to be part of the growth that lies ahead for Newcastle Falcons.”
McCallum said: “My family and I are buzzing to be sticking around in the Toon.
“We’ve made it our home, I can see improvements happening at the club and I really enjoy coming into work every day.”
Newcastle’s next game is the Premiership Rugby Cup quarter-final at home to Gloucester on Friday February 28.
