The North East company which specialises in business communications, teamed up with the Falcons to give youngsters of the Gosforth-based club a day to remember.

Taking time out of his busy training schedule at Kingston Park, former British & Irish Lion player and current Newcastle director of rugby Dean Richards talked extensively to the budding stars of the future before giving them a coaching session alongside experienced duo Mike Blair and Matt Thompson.

Richards spoke candidly about his time playing mini rugby and how he made it as a professional rugby player. Additionally, he explained how he became a coach following his on-field antics and his success with Leicester Tigers and Harlequins prior to his move to Newcastle. Enthused by the talk, the juniors were then treated to a training session from the Falcons chief, who took them through a string of contact drills and breakdown plays as well as individual skill sessions with some players.

The session ended with a short game where the kids put their skills to the test, before the participants were presented with Falcons shirts by Richards. The team put what they had learnt into practise that weekend resulting in a victory in the County Cup Final against Alnwick.

Northern Under-13s now embark on a tour of Edinburgh and everyone at the club would like to wish them every success on their cross-border trip.
