Ollie Fletcher joined Newcastle’s senior academy in the summer of 2021, having studied at Newcastle School for Boys.
A Northumberland Developing Player Pathway (DPP) graduate with excellent game understanding, Ollie has represented the club at all age groups and was called into the England Under-18s set up during the 2020-21 season.
An accomplished cricketer, Ollie chose to pursue the oval ball, and since converting from back-row to hooker at Under-16 level he has made great strides forward.
Earning his England Under-20s cap during the 2021-22 season, Ollie made his first-team debut for Newcastle in March 2022 during the Premiership Rugby Cup trip to Northampton Saints.
Rugby runs in the family, as Ollie is the son of John Fletcher, the former England A centre and ex-Newcastle director of rugby.
Ollie’s development continued at pace during the 2022-23 season in which he made seven appearances, scoring the winning try at Leicester Tigers in the cup and making his Premiership debut away to Saracens.
A psychology graduate from Newcastle University, Fletcher played and scored for England Students in the spring of 2024 when they played French Universities in Coventry, with the 2023-24 season seeing him play on four occasions for the Newcastle first team, scoring two tries.
In 2024-25 he gained a wealth of senior rugby, playing 24 times for the first team and scoring three tries.
