Richard Palframan extends Newcastle Falcons stay
The 29-year-old has made 27 appearances for the Falcons since arriving two years ago from Worcester Warriors, with 19 of those coming last season.
Palframan said: “I have really enjoyed my first two years here and I’m really happy to be staying in the North East.
“I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to continue playing rugby at a high level because, as everyone will be aware from recent events, that privilege can be taken away very quickly.
“It is obviously sad to say goodbye to a lot of boys that left last season because we lost some big characters and good friends, but it will be great to work with all the new guys coming in and the new-look coaching team.
“I am also looking forward to working with Alex Codling again after he coached me many years ago when I was on loan at Rosslyn Park, and I’m excited for this coming season and the longer-term future with the Falcons.
“The Gallagher Premiership is a tough league and you have to always be at your best, and I plan to be.”
Newcastle Falcons forwards coach Micky Ward welcomed news of Palframan’s re-signing, saying: “I’m really pleased that Palf is staying with us for another couple of seasons because he’s a hard worker who knows our systems and offers a lot to the team.
“He scrummages at a good level, his energy on the pitch and around the environment in general is outstanding and he knows the Premiership landscape. He’s a great professional who keeps himself in top nick and he’s developed well during the two seasons he’s had with us.”
