Richards Post-match Reaction
The Falcons boss watched on as his former club secured maximum points by virtue of tries from Sam Smith (2), Tom Williams and Danny Care.
And speaking to the assembled media at the post-match press conference, Richards said: “We are pretty disappointed to be honest. There are lots of opportunities which go begging but you’ve got to create those opportunities, and in the previous matches we have done that.
“But we didn’t have the execution and the basics just weren’t there, the players know that and they are probably as frustrated as the coaching staff.”
Holding Quins 13-6 at the break, the men from the Twickenham Stoop asserted their dominance in the second-half to inflict a resounding defeat on the Falcons. Richards insists his side will bounce back, adding: “It’s about having the confidence to go out there and play a little bit, It’s there for them, they just need to have that confidence to do it.
“Sometimes when you are newly promoted and it is a relatively new side and you play the likes of Quins, Leicester, Saracens and Northampton which we have done, it takes a bit of time to get that confidence but it will come.”
