Sale Sharks in sight as season opener draws near
The 8pm kick-off sees the league’s two most northerly teams doing battle, Newcastle currently unbeaten in pre-season as Dean Richards’ side shape up in style for the big kick-off.
An array of summer signings are already making their mark, Canada lock Evan Olmstead having scored in both matches while fit-again Samoan Sinoti Sinoti is fit and firing on the wing.
Tongan powerhouse Opeti Fonua and prolific Fiji star Vereniki Goneva further increase the Pacific island flavour as the Falcons look to build on their predominantly homegrown talent pool, while Scotland prop Jon Welsh is back to full fitness in a strong-looking forward pack.
