School coaching success at Seghill
With the help of Seghill RFC coach Steve Bailey and club first-team player Charley Miller, Falcons Community ran five week’s of sessions to over 60 children, many of which had no previous experience of rugby.
These sessions culminated in a whole-school festival at Seghill RFC.
Falcons Community development officer Dan Simpson said: “It has been a fantastic few months coaching rugby at Seghill First School, giving the kids an opportunity to start a new sport.
“I was really pleased with how the kids seemed to enjoy the sessions, and it was great to see how they progressed at the whole-school festival at the end of the five weeks.”
A Seghill First School teacher said: “Dan has been doing a fantastic job at delivering three age-group classes at Seghill First School.
“We have recently started up a mini rugby section at Seghill RFC, and already Dan’s input at the school has started to produce more players. We had 34 kids turn up after just three weeks!”
